1000 Sushi Islands is in a very random location. It is hard to miss if you don't look hard enough, specially at night. The very bright colours of the building do help find it though. As for service, I would say that it is very mediocre. There was only one server who spoke english the day I went (I am not over exaggerating), so it was very hard for my friends and I to decide on what to eat, specially since we had questions that could not be answered without much struggle. The food is good, but due to the lack of communication between servers and customers, I would rather go to a different next time.

Based on a lot of bad reviews, I had pretty low expectations for this place. However, I still wanted to try it out. Everything on the menu is all you can eat which is excellent. I was also very pleased with the quality of the food. The service was so-so since they servers can't speak english very well. Overall I would have to say that I would definitely go back.

Don't let the outside of the building fool you. I was expecting typical in-land sushi (dry, sticky, no flavor, etc). I was so wrong. The fish was so fresh. My only complaints are the very slow service and that they were forgetful with my order. There are other AYCE places in Ottawa with similar quality food and better service. The price was very reasonable for an AYCE. All they ask is that you don't waste the food.

I would have to agree with the reviewer below me, the location in barrhaven is a lot better... EVERY time I go to the carling location they forget half my order and don't understand a word I'm saying. I love the Japanese culture but this isn't Japan, if you're going to serve English customers, I think it's fair that they should at least be able to understand english.

The barrhaven location made my girlfriend so sick I thought she was going to die, she actually passed out on our bathroom floor from the pain, and the only thing she ate that day was the sushi from the new barrhaven location. I ate the same stuff but she had more sashimi than I did... I would like to get a sample and see how much mercury is in it.It may not be related at all, but who knows.

The food is good for a buffet. The service is the worst. The waitresses have no clue as to what they are doing and barely speak English. I asked for a fork, she brought me tea. I asked for the check about five times with a delay of 20 minutes. Value is a fair price. Atmosphere is loud and certain seating areas are dirty. The chance of returing is 50/50 because the food is rather good.

This restaurant has great food but the service could use improvement. I find you never get exactly what you order and the servers are slow to pick up your order from your table.

They have a new location in barrhaven next to the theatre that is much better thant he Carling location and not as busy so service is faster! Love love love this restaurant!!

The food is amazing and the carling location is the best sushi I have ever tasted in all of ottawa, so fresh and mouth watering...I agree on the loud atmosphere but thats what happens when people like a place eveyone is happy and loud.
