I needed a new pair of glasses and had not been to an optometrist in years. It took 4 weeks for this doctor to return my call, 3 weeks to get my glasses prescription, and have it be wrong. Glasses were 650.00 and when my grandson hugged me they broke. a gaurantee was offered and glasses were to be repaced, 8 weeks later, still getting excuses
I highly recommend Dr. Dame. He was originally recommended to me by a nurse at the Foothills hospital when I was trying to get an appointment with an ophthalmologist with a 2 year waiting list. I called and got in to see Dr. Dame (optometrist) in a matter of weeks. I have been seeing Dr. Dame for over 10 years and am extremely satisfied with his service. He is personable, thorough and practical. I feel he really listens/hears what I am saying and that he is also good at communicating his findings and treats patients with respect/as equals (all rare for many doctors these days).
I am not sure about other person's experiences but I found Dr Vyas to be wonderful. I have macular degeneration and he was able to show me a 3d model of my eye and fully explain the situation to me. His new location on St Clair is stunning.
Saw they were the Canuck's eye doctors - that's good enough for me. The last eye exam I had cost me $115 and I thought that was fairly reasonable considering the studying these guys have to do. Jeez, I had no idea how much I was missing. These doctors at Image were so thorough and comprehensive that I had to sit down tonight and register how happy I am with the abilities and value and price of what I received today - I will never go any where else to have my eyes checked! The best glasses. My girlfriend almost couldn't decide!
I had a terrible experience with this doctor. The glasses he prescribed were too strong and I was suffering from headaches and pain in the eyes for half a year because of it. I didnÂ't realize it was from the glasses though. He told me it was from me not wearing the glasses all the time. After a couple of days of migraine I finally switched to my old glasses and the pain was gone. I'm just glad I figured this out (which is supposed to be his job).
Dr. Martineau is fantastic, both with adults and with kids. I'd recommend her to any parent. Her equipment is great, and she and her staff take the time to explain the processes, and the results. She was recommended to me by my G.P., who is also her client, and now the whole family goes. Book now and early, because most appointments are one year in advance.
Dr. Martineau is one of the best, and my only slight issue is that the cost of glasses or lenses sold through her office; as another person commented previously, the costs are higher than you'd think, or like, for most of us who need to somewhat budget our money. Other than that, Dr. Martineau and her team are superb! (I just won't buy anything through them).
Dr. Martineau is caring, patient, and knowledgeable. She will take the time to explain things to her patients, and if you have problem with your eyes, you will most likely learn more about what is wrong than you have ever known before. She is the only optometrist I have met who was able to transition me properly into a new prescription of contacts after I had been greatly overprescribed elsewhere. Expect to be in her office for a long time, but if you need or want the quality of care she offers, it is well worth it(it is too bad that she has the most uncomfortable waiting room chairs I've ever sat on, however!). I have not paid for optometry services elsewhere, and after going to an opthalmologist where services were free, I found the prices to be a bit of a shock, though I have no idea how they compare to others in her field. I would simply recommend that you ask the cost of things up front, including any recommended tests, if money is an issue.
Dr. Martineau is a young-ish doctor and serves patients in both French and English. She is extremely thorough and takes her time when seeing you -- with all the tests an annual exam can take 2.5 hours or more! Her office seems well-equipped with all the latest technology and she seems very knowledgeable about new trends and advances. On the downside, her practice seems very business oriented. Even though there are signs in her office saying they have a fair pricing policy and welcome questions, she gets kind huffy when politely asked about what her extra fees cover. She always seems to be pushing new and more expensive kind of contact lenses on her patients and charges a $75 fee for "recommending" a lens and giving you a sample pair -- even though the manufacturers provide these samples free of charge. Her office claims contacts and glasses sold in the office's boutique are offered "at cost", but they don't tell you a "diagnostic fee" is hidden in the total.
The staff was very friendly. Didn't have to wait a long time to be seen which is a rarity. The digital pictures taken of my eye balls were very interesting, it makes sense in this day and age to compare these pictures during the next visit. Had a good choice of frames. The different lenses available were explained to me. My glasses were couriered to me. Great service. Will definitely go back.
