I remember the original owners were a french couple and One Stop was originally located on St. Laurent beside Scotiabank in the same plaza as IGA and K-Mart. The original owners took such good care of the business, and when they relocated ran it for another 1-2 years before selling it to a Vietnamese man/family.
I use to do my laundry their quite frequently in 2004, and the family was always pleasant and it was a clean place.
I don't know what happened but I have been back 2-3 times this year and I haven't had the same experiences unfortunately. He overcharges on his dryers and has the heat turned so low it take a very long time to dry your clothes, and they don't even come out dry they are all damp.
The washers are falling apart, he tries fixing himself (and isn't even qualified) and the cycles are all out of whack. He has adjusted the water levels to half the drum of the machine from full levels.
I don't know if he is trying to save money and cut his costs because of the increase in hydro costs. However, I give his business 5 years at best before he goes under.
You can't run a business dishonestly and rip customers off with crappy machines and overcharging them.
