Whalesbone Oyster House The Details

Oysters are the obvious choice here, served raw with different sauces and add-ons like lemon and horseradish. There are three to five types of east and west coast oysters to choose from, both small and large varieties and our selection changes daily. Oysters are the house specialty, but we've got plenty on the menu for seafood lovers who are squeamish about slurping the slippery bivalves straight from the shell.


Our decor is hip but simple, giving the long and narrow space a bigger, brighter feel. Light wooden tables and folding chairs contrast nicely with the red brick interior. Personal touches, like the record collection behind the bar and the bike on one wall give the Whalesbone Oyster House a comfortable homey feel.

The oysters are fabulous and the presentation is wonderful. The service was quite attentive and knowledgeable. The foie gras was addictively perfect and the cheese tray a great way to end the meal. We will return.

First - the benches - absolutely ridiculous to think that people would be comfortable - for sitting that long with no back support - invest in some good restaurant chairs. You are charging 5 star prices for inconsistant food. The appetizers were delicious - but $18.00 each - ridiculous. Salmon and steak were undercooked. No vegetables??? $38.00 Nice staff - but not professional. For this money you should have top of the line professionally trained staff and consistant quality of food. We won't be back. Nor will our friends.

This is the best Oyster Bar in town! Always a large selection of east and west coast oysters, with fresh horse radish, and a Scotch shaker to have on them too! Always a fresh menu on the board... Very fun place to be!
