If the libs take time off to go to the olympics, prapehs they could explain it to Scott Tribe. The Liberals will be coming back to work on January 25.Posted by Scott Tribe on January 5, 2010, at 9:32 pm |Very nice: Liberals to return to work as scheduled Jan.25, despite Parliament shutdown Liberal MPs and senators will return to work as scheduled in the nation's capital later this month, even though Parliament has been suspended until early March. Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff informed his caucus during a conference call Tuesday that he expects them to report for work on Jan. 25. He told caucus members they can't let Prime Minister Stephen Harper get away with shutting down Parliament and stifling debate.I'm betting the other opposition parties will be returning as well, while Harper takes his extended Olympic holiday for no good reason other then to take the heat off of him.So, will liberals take an extended holiday in Feb. The comments on this article are rather interesting. If our PM is so useless on the world scene, why has he been invited to a very select meeting in Switzerland, Jan 27-Feb 1, to give a speech. This is an invitation only meeting, with 2500 top business leaders, economic leaders, corporate heads, Google is our friend.
i have eaten here 3 "tries" - the atmosphere is quite nice, but i've had several steaks far below grade. They should change their ideals, refrigeration system, or where they buy from. Back to the Keg, unfortunately.
i can\'t believe the quality of steak that they let leave the kitchen - the taste of \"dirty socks\" comes to mind, instead of filet mignon. i was embarrassed to spit it out almost immediately. not once, but 2 different occasions out of 5. not going back ever
renos they did awhile ago are nice.
always have good exsperience at Als, great food, great service, same old atmosphere...................................................................
My experience was very average at best. The meat was uninspiring, the garlic bread consisted of two generous pieces however it wasn't good bread and I'm not sure what kind of commercial garlic spread (sprinkles?) were used. I liked the salad and the blue cheese house dressing. I tried a taste of the dessert and I'm glad I didn't order any - it had a very processed taste. We had two bottles of wine - which were reasonably prices as far as restaurants go ($38 each or so). The service was there but it didn't sparkle. The decor is clean and bright but pretty pass?.
The restaurant was quite full so this isn't to say Al doesn't have a following - but I would expect better for the $460 I spent.
To give this restaurant an adequate rating is being generous. A sharing plate of hors d'oeuvres that wasn't fit for pub fare. Ribs hidden under sauce. Underdone fatty grisly steak (asked for med-rare got rare) terrible vegetables and a beer with a date code on the bottle that showed it was 7 months old (wine improves with age - not beer. Where were they hiding that one?). Dill pickles are a nice garnish for a smoked meat sandwich - not a $27.00 steak (although it was probably the best tasting thing on the plate). Either something drastically changed since the previous reviews or this place merely rides on an outdated reputation. Did I complain? No because it was a special occasion and I wasn't up to the fight and spoil a previously good day. Would I go back? Not on your life. Very pedestrian setting with gourmet pricing. Highly over-rated.
